PART I

November 12, 2020

Moderated by Richard D. Bardgett, UK

Some of the more than 300 scientists involved in writing the UN-FAO Report, “State of Knowledge of Soil Biodiversity: Status, Challenges, and Potentialities” will present their views on why they volunteered to be a contributor, why they think it is important to contribute scientific knowledge to policy, and their thoughts on the importance of this report for the future of research and policy. On December 4, 2020, the Report will be launched in conjunction with World Soil Day (5 December 2020). The Report was called for by the UN Convention on Biological Diversity and was coordinated by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and their partners: the Intergovernmental Technical Panel on Soils, the Global Soil Partnership, the European Commission, and the Global Soil Biodiversity Initiative.
