Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Soil Ecology
POSITION: NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES - Full-time, academic year (9 month), tenure track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor position within the Natural Resources Management and Environmental Sciences (NRES) Department at California Polytechnic State University (Cal Poly), San Luis Obispo. Beginning date is September 16, 2019. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Cal Poly has a tradition of excellence in teaching and our motto is “Learn by Doing.” Strong interests in laboratory/field-based undergraduate and graduate teaching along with excellent written and oral communication skills are required. The successful candidate will teach courses in soil ecology, fertilizers as they relate to plant health and productivity, wetlands, introductory soil science, and additional related courses depending on curricular needs and the candidate’s expertise and professional goals. Particular expertise is desired in soil ecology/microbiology as relates to the growth of California specialty crops (e.g. wine grapes, strawberries, lettuce), carbon cycling and greenhouse gas emissions, solid waste management (composting), nutrient cycling, soilless media, and/or biogeography. The successful candidate will mentor students in senior projects and graduate theses, provide general academic and student club advising, participate in Future Farmers of America (FFA) land judging state finals held on campus annually, teach graduate level courses and/or teach in a Master of Professional Studies or certificate program, and nurture overall student development…
